Damaged again in the 1990's by armed conflict it is now the focus of major restoration. Dubrovnik is an outstanding medieval walled city. The Rectors Palace dates back to the 11th century
The church of Saint Blaise was built in the 18th century and has a very impressive tressury
.The walls of Dubrovnik run almost 2km around the city and are 4 metres thick. The systems of Turrets and towers were intended to protect the vulnerable city. The outside section of the city walls were once armed by more then 120 cannons.
Our walk around the walls took us about 2 hours, we drank several bottles of water on that hot day but the view was beautiful
.The streets are paved with square limestones and over the centuries have been worn down smooth and very slippery.
In Dec 1991 Yugoslov Forces pounded Dubrovnik by armed conflict that destroyed large portions of the city. The scars of the wars are still very noticeable . The road to recovery from the civil wasr is long and has not yet reached its end.
View from our apartment of some areas that have been left by the bombs.
That concludes my journey to Croatia with Tammy. Next blog entry will be the model shoot we did with Gordon Jovic and David Beckstead
